Bike Trails in New Jersey

 

ALLAIRE STATE PARK: Farmingdale, NJ

These directions are not for the main entrance to Allaire State Park. They are for the multi-use trail parking lot on Hospital Road. There is no mountain biking from the main entrance. Take Route 9 south to Adelphia Road (Rt. 524) east. Follow 524 as it turns right and becomes Squankum-Yellowbrook Road. Pass the main entrance. Turn right onto Hospital Road. The parking lot is half a mile on the right.
 

ALLAMUCHY: Hackettstown, NJ

To Allamuchy Natural Area: Take I80 to the Hackettstown/Andover exit 19 for Rt. 517. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Rt. 517 South. Turn left onto a dirt road, Deer Park Road after 2.3 miles. Follow the very rocky, rutted-out dirt road for 0.7 miles and park at the first parking lot. The trail head for the route is off to the left.
 
 

CLAYTON PARK: Upper Freehold, NJ

Take Route 9 south to West Main Street (Route 537) south. Take 537 south past Interstate 195 and Great Adventure. Turn right two miles past Great Adventure at a Yogi Bear sign onto Jonathan Holmes Road. At the first stop sign turn right onto Emleys Hill Road. The parking lot is three miles on the right.
 

FROST WOODS: East Brunswick, NJ

Take Route 18 South to Rues Lane. Turn right onto Rues Lane and go to first light. Turn left onto Summerhill Road. Just before the next light at Old Stage Road turn right into a parking lot on the right. The trailhead is at the far right corner of the parking lot.
 
 

HARTSHORNE WOODS: Middletown, NJ

Hartshorne Woods Park is located off of Route 36 in the hills which make up the highest point on the Eastern seaboard of the U.S. The park is less than five miles from the Atlantic Ocean in Middletown, N.J. The park can be reached by taking Exit 117 off the Garden State Parkway, or taking Route 35 to Route 36. Take Route 36 east twelve miles to the Scenic Dr. exit. Take a right at the stop sign. The parking lot is half a mile on the left.
 

HUBER WOODS: Locust, NJ

Huber Woods Park is located in Locust, N.J., only a mile or so southwest of Hartshorne Woods Park. Take State Highway 35 to Navesink River Road. Take Navesink River Road 2.8 miles east to Brown's Dock Road. Turn left. The park entrance is at the top of the hill.
 
 

LEWIS MORRIS PARK: Morristown, NJ

From Interstate 287 take exit 35. Get onto South Street westbound and follow signs for Route 24 West through Morristown. The park entrance is about 3.5 miles on the left. Take the park road up to the top of the hill and take the first right for Sunrise Lake.
 

MERCER COUNTY PARK: Hamilton & West Windsor, NJ

Take Route 1 to Quakerbridge Road (Route 533). Turn left onto Hughes Ave. The park entrance is a half mile on the left. Take the second left off of the park road and park at the boat launching area. The trail begins across the field to the right of the boat launch.
 
 

ROUND VALLEY: Lebanon, NJ

Take Interstate 287 North to Interstate 78 West to the Lebanon exit. There are signs for Round Valley Recreation Area. Turn right at light onto 22 West. Take the first exit for the Recreation Area. Go straight through the light at the end of the jug handle. The entrance to the area is on the left about half a mile past the boat launch area entrance.
 

SOURLANDS MOUNTAIN PRESERVE: Hillsborough, NJ

Take Amwell Road (514) west three miles from the Route 206 intersection. Take a left onto East Mountain Road. The park entrance is less than two miles on the right.
 
 

WHITE ROCK CHIMNEY ROCK PARK: Martinsville, NJ

Take I 287 to Rt. 22 East. Turn right at the first exit for Thompson Ave./Bound Brook/Martinsville. Take the immediate right jug handle for Martinsville and cross over Rt. 22. Turn left at the stop sign. Turn left at the T intersection. Turn left onto Newman's Lane in half a mile. Take Newman's Lane down and across a narrow bridge. Park in the tiny parking lot on the right before the road goes up the long hill.
